The coaches selected Anthony Mason over Brand! As if life on the worst team in NBA history isn't misery enough for Elton. I can't help but think that if the Bulls had Mason instead of Brand, they would still be seeking their first win. And if the Heat had Brand instead of Mason, they would probably make Pat Riley look almost as much of a genius as he thinks he is.

Brand is clearly having the better statistical season but his numbers aren't translating into wins so they don't get the same kind of pop.

It's one of the perks he gets for playing on the Bulls.

The main reason is that playing for the Bulls he gets almost zero exposure. Unless he puts forth a superstar effort and can make a news wire story he pretty much goes unnoticed. The worst part of this is that Krause will now probably crawl out from under the baseboard and pout publicly for a few days. Unc

I don't think that this has any reason to do with his being snubbed for the all-star team. He receieved enough exposure to win the ROY last season but NBA coaches have always favored giving the all-star spots to guys from winning teams. And with good reason IMO since winning, not stats, is the ultimate goal.

There was a time when Bulls fans were on the other side of this argument back when Horace Grant was being named to the all-star team over players from lesser teams with better stats. How times have changed.

I understand your argument but there are 15 coaches in the eastern conference that vote for the all-stars. Do you not think that they are well aware of who Elton Brand is? They play just as many games against the Bulls as the other eastern teams and I'm certain that they spend part of every game day, before facing the Bulls, devising ways to stop their best player.

IMO, Brand got snubbed because of the Bulls record, not because he didn't play well enough and not because he was underexposed. If you want to argue that his lack of exposure played a part in the poor fan voting, then I'd tend to agree with you on that point.

I think it was a snub to Floyd also. None of the coaches are worried about him doing them any favors soon.

I noticed that Floyd took a backhanded shot at Mason's selection in the papers today. Saying something along the lines of 'all the reserves make sense except for him'. Pretty classless if you ask me.

Beware of Mason vs the Bulls next time out. 20 points, 15 boards and he'll be all over Brand defensively.

Grant was only an All-Star once as a Bull wasn't he? And in any case both his selections and BJ Armstrong's only further the point that everyone else here is making that wins ultimately mean more than stats.

Why would Brand be selected over Juwan Howard? Howard has equivalent stats in fewer minutes, and has led his team to twice as many wins.
