Whether the Bulls have a shot at Joe Smith or not, Minnesota will likely be needing a power forward. If you consider Marcus Fizer and Wally Szczerbiak to have similar trade value, a swap could be good for both Chicago and Minnesota. Szererbiak would fill the Bull's needs at SF, while Fizer probably would be better at PF. Fizer might be a better complementary player to Garnett. If that isn't even, the Bulls might be willing to give up a guard or two for William Avery.

No way! Marcus Fizer will be a much better player than Wally Szczerbiak ever will. I would not take Wally and William Avery for Fizer even up. Give Fizer a chance, I think we will all be pleasantly surprised.

Seems like your trade is aimed solely at fitting the Wolves needs, which doesn't really fit unless you are in their ng. This trade would single-handedly save the Minnesota franchise from total destruction following the impending sanctions to be applied. Although Fizer was #4 and Szczerbiak was #5, last year's draft was considerably weaker, and the one of 2000 was basically a 4-player draft, with the talent level dropping significantly afterwards: Martin, Swift, Miles, and Fizer.

(Hey, some good news for Bulls fans. Apparently, Clipperland is reporting that Miles can't make an outside shot to save his life, once again restoring faith to an organization that, thanks to Donald Sterling, came out with the much better player Fizer instead of Miles.)

Fizer has more talent in general, is a favorite of Tim Floyd, and will probably never make a great power forward in the league. He struggled to guard big low-post players, didn't rebound much considering the second tallest starter for his college team was 6'4', and most of his scoring came facing the basket. Either he will succeed as a 3, or he will be bust, but I really think he has the goods. People under- estimate his range and the quickness of his release.

I can see from you closer that you were obviously drunk when you wrote this. The guy was filling both teams needs, He was just emphaxizing that since the wolves are in need of a power forward, they would probably make the deal. IMHO we should get rid of Fizer, his value will only go down.....Fizer is the next baby Jordan, remember Minor!!!

This would be a brilliant move for the Bulls. Krause would never have to worry about Szerbiak wearing his hair in cornrows.

And you are a completely sane, intelligent poster with useful insights.

The poster looked for teams in need of a power forward, and found Minnesota to be one. I said Bulls fans should be trying to plug holes of other teams. If Minnesota was offered that trade, it would take a mind filled with vodka, weed, and crack to reject trading away Wally for Fizer.

For Bulls fans sakes, I hope you are wrong. I take it you haven't seen him play, because anyone who starts trade rumors to 'get rid of Fizer' for any available small forward needs to check their heads.

Fizer's a 4, the Bulls already have Brand. The Wolves need a 4, and they have a nice 3 to slide into the Bulls' starting line-up. Oh and if you think Wally Szczerbiak is 'any available small forward' then you either didn't watch many Wolves games last year or you haven't looked at the stats.

Looks like you haven't seen Fizer play either. As I said earlier, his best chance to succeed in the NBA might be as a 3, and since we won't find out for a few months, I hope you understand that I based this entirely on speculations.

Actually, you are right that Wally isn't available. All the less reasons to start wack trade rumors about him and a player that might dwarf Szczerbiak's rookie stats.

Many people, present company included, think that Fizer will have no problem playing the 3 spot in the NBA. He has a good shooting stroke, good ball-handling skills and will overpower many 3's down low. He only got to display these skills in college sporadically as the vertically challenged Iowa St. team needed him to play center. I think that his biggest problem will be handling the SF spot defensively.
