Michael Jordan Divorce Questions--Parenthood Vs Career

I feel that all of us Chicago Bulls fans should not get caught up in Michael Jordan's personnel life. We should be focused on solutions that could possibly make this franchise at least a .500 ranked team. I also have lots of faith in the kids. I believe that we should stick by them and continue to give them our support,but let's not treat them like babies. Tyson Chandler is going to be an all star in two years and Trenton Hassel is already in the runnings.

Well, sure, but what do you know about this divorce? They cite 'irreconcilable differences'. There's evidence of his infidelity and it currently impacts his marriage - right? Or there may be other things, other than the fact (well known to his wife when she married him) that he has a big time NBA career requiring lots of time on the road.

People deal with long absences in many ways. Some, like some of the wives in my extended family with a lot of long-haul truck drivers, *seek* husbands with a lot of away time because they'd find constant interaction stifiling. Not everyone is an attention-needful extrovert, y'know. Others make the most of their time together (in occupataions requiring long absences, the times at home are often 24/7) and enjoy the long-distance contact there is. Imagine - a honeymoon at the end of every deployment or run with a destination 2500 miles away.

I'd be much more cognizant of how much day-to-day minute-to-mintue involvement a father has with kids when he's home. There are many, many with occupations requiring little travel who have little day-to-day minute-to-minute contact with their children, leaving all the nurturing stuff and most of the real childraising efforts to one partner (guess which gender 95% of the time).

So, like everything else in life, it's what you make of it.

Not into the concept of a marriage as a partnership, are ya?

Lessee - the premise behind this is.....that no man with a lot of income has any serious faults, every marriage a man with a lot of income would make would be a good one, such that no wife would feel the need to divorce him if it weren't for his money.

This is a basketball newsgroup. Micheal Jordan's private life is none of our buisness. Unless, each of you would like to share a private aspect of you life while you comment on someone's private life, that someone being someone you don't know and have only seen on tv.

I think we can see where you're coming from, Banty. Rather than answer the questions I raised, you try to divert ttention from them by trying (not very successfully) to caricature what I was saying.

So, I ask the question again: if Mrs. Jordan could NOT get a huge amount of the money that Michael Jordan, and Michael Jordan alone, has earned, does anyone think she would be interested in divorcing him?

He'd have a tough time showing up for Bball games and making a red cent from it if he also had to see his kids off to school.

And that's just for starters.

If he didn't want a partnership with a spouse, he needn't have entered one. If he didn't want to support chidlren, he needn't have had them. His choices.
