After the Bulls draft, I furiously defended Krause's choices. I claimed Fizer could succed at Small Forward and that Crawford was the steal of the draft. And that Dalibor could be the next croatian sensations. I believed this to be true because I was pretty confident that Mcgrady or Jones would come here.
I still think that Fizer can contribute and is the second most nba ready of the first 4 draft picks (swift and Darius Miles are taletented projects) and that Crawford has something about him that he could develop to be a penny. And I have seen Dalibor on some clips and I really think that he could be the next Toni. But seriously, instead of being excited about our 4th and 7th picks, all we have are questions. If I could go back in time and replace Krause for the draft, I would have done something completly different. I would have taken Demarr Johnson, Joel Pryzbilla, and Erik Barkley. All were there and all fill needs.
Seriously, 4 years from now , who do you think has the potential to be a Mcgrady like Max player that everybody wants, Fizer or Demarr Johnson? Fizer is a terrible defender and even a poor rebound. Mo Pete blew by him for a game winner with ease in the summer league.
Why pay 4 mil to a center like Brad Miller when you could develop a far better prospect who is cheaper.
And why draft a point guard who is all potential? Erik Barkley is a prototypical type point guard who is tough and intelligent.
(I seriously would even consider trading the 4 and 7 picks for Miles because there is alwayas the chance he could be the next KG.)
Right now, what's a better lineup for our future.
C Brad Miller PF Elton Brand SF Marcus Fizer SG Ron Mercer PG Jamal Crawford
or
C Joel Pryzbilla PF Elton Brand SF Demarr Johnson SG Ron Mercer PG Erik Barkley
At least there you have 5 talented young players who can actually play their posistions.
Oh well, no one could have predicted Mike Jordan. Maybe Fizer or Crawford will prove my increasing doubts wrong.
