I cannot remember a bad trade that Krause has completed. First we have the Cartwright for Oakley trade, then the Olden polynice for the rights to Pippen trade. Krause is an absolute genius. He has never made any bad trades in his life. And that is why Curry and Chandler will work out.

LOL. How about trading Pippen at the top of his game in exchange for Roy Rogers simply to create cap space?
Krause has proven over the past 5 years that he is far from infallible. The Chandler/Brand trade is and will forever be a disaster.

I hope this was meant as a joke.
Even if all of Krause's trades _had_ worked to the Bull's advantage, that's insufficient reason to form a conclusion about the Brand trade.

How much'd Krause pay you to say that? Granted, he's engineered some fabulous deals in the past, but come on, some are just ridiculous.
Pippen for Rogers and a second round pick? Granted, Pippen wanted out, etc, but you can still get more value than that...
Caffey for Vaughn and two second round picks? The Bulls may have won the title in '98, but Krause almost lost it for them.
Kukoc for Starks and what became Jamal Crawford? The jury's still out, waiting to see how good Crawford gets, but considering we could've had Larry Hughes, that hurts.
Shammond Williams for a second round pick? He could've helped.
I suppose you could make this kind of a list for every GM in the league, but trading your best player for a guy who's still learning the difference between a chest pass and a chalupa is something totally out of whack.

Have there been credible reports that anyone was willing to offer more value. It's not as if Pippen's leaving was in any doubt?
OTOH, Krause seems to have an unusual affection for the acquisition of second round picks. Perhaps he keeps thinking of Kukoc.
Is it known with any confidence whether the Caffey deal was tied to the Burrell deal during the 1997 season?
I've always suspected that the Caffey trade was part of the 1997 offseadon deal for Burrell (i.e. if Burrell made certain contributions, the Bulls would upgrade the Warriors end of the deal to Caffey), in which case the totality of the deal may have helped the Bulls. With Pippen injured, Burrell was important insurance.
As a trade (rather than a draft decision), this might be the one I'd listed first as a counter-example to the asserton aqt the start of the

If you look at what the Rockets got for Pip in an equally bad situation for them then I think it is clear that Krause just wanted Pippen gone and didn't spend a lot of time trying to find the best deal. That is Krause's prerogative to make that decision of course but then he turned around and tried to sell to the fans as a 'good move' like we are a bunch of idiots.
There were never any 'future considerations' or any of that language tied to the Burrell deal. It seemed a little lop-sided to me at the time too. If the Caffey thing was payback for a wink-wink agreement then I wonder if that is legal. Burrell was a good pickup in theory but he really didn't do much to offset the loss of Pip that year.
In any case the real gripe here is that Caffey, and not Finley, was even on the team.
Starks didn't come via the Kukoc deal did he? I can't remember now how that worked but was he part of that?

Relax! Chandler will be better than Alonzo Mourning before its all said and done. He is a shot blocking machine and his body will only fill out and get better. Curry concerns me but he does have soft hands for a big man.
I like Chandler a lot!

Chandler knows absolutely nothing at all about playing with his back to the basket so how you have arrived at the conclusion that he will be better than Mourning is beyond me. For that matter he better be one helluva lot better than Mourning considering what we gave away for him.
